About Us
The Illawarra Pipe Band was formed in 1945 and celebrated 60 years in 2005. The band can often be seen at various functions in the Illawarra and surrounding areas, including Sydney as well as south to Huskisson and Ulladulla as well as the well known “Brigadoon at Bundanoon” in the Southern Highlands in April.

The band wears the Wallace Tartan and is currently competing in Grade 4 of the New South Wales Pipe Band competition. The Illawarra Pipe Band welcomes new members who wish to learn the pipes or drums or even those who are taking up piping or drumming after a layoff. The main practice night is on wednesday night at Centenary Hall, Tongarra Road, Albion Park which opens at 6.30 PM. For those who are new to the world of piping and drumming there is a tuesday night practice held at the RSL Memorial Hall, Bong Bong Road, Dapto, again the doors open at 6.30 PM. The tuition is provided free of charge. Anyone interested in pipes or drums is welcome to come along to have a look and get involved as a playing member or join our fantastic group of volunteers and supporters.
